Chobots Blogs Terms

The agreement between you and Chobots.net for using Chobots Blogs. If you are under 18, please read it with a parent or guardian.

Last updated: 13 October 2026

The short version

  • Chobots Blogs is part of Chobots. The Chobots Terms of Service apply here, and these terms add to them.
  • You need a Chobots account in good standing. A child's blog needs a parent or guardian's permission before others can see it.
  • What you write is yours. You let us show it, and we may hide or remove anything that breaks the Rules.
  • Extra features come with a Cosmonaut Pass or a group blog. If a pass ends, nothing is lost: the extras are put away until it is back.
  • It is free, it is still growing, and it may change. Keep a copy of writing you care about.

The short version is a reminder, not a replacement. What counts is the full text below.

What these terms are

Chobots Blogs (chobotsblog.net and chobotsblog.com) is run by Chobots.net, the same team that runs the Chobots game. Chobots.net is a fan-led restoration and preservation project.

By using Chobots Blogs you agree to the Chobots Terms of Service (chobots.net/terms.html), the Chobots Privacy Policy (chobots.net/privacy.html), the Chobots Blogs Rules, the Chobots Blogs Privacy Policy, and these terms. If these terms and the Chobots Terms of Service ever disagree, the Chobots Terms of Service win, except where these terms say something specific about blogs.

Reading blogs needs no account and no agreement beyond these documents. Everything else (following, reacting, commenting, reporting and writing) needs you to be signed in with your Chobots account.

Who can use Chobots Blogs

  • Anyone can read.
  • To sign in you need a Chobots account that is activated and not banned. There is no separate account or password for Chobots Blogs: you sign in at Chobots and are sent back.
  • To write, your account must be allowed to chat in the game. If a parent has turned chat off, or a moderator has muted the account, you cannot write here either.
  • If your account is a child's account, you may create a blog, choose how it looks and write drafts. Nobody else can see it until a parent or guardian linked to your account in the Chobots Parents Centre has said yes. They are asked by an email from Chobots, and they can withdraw permission at any time.
  • Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising the children who use Chobots Blogs, as they are for the game.

Your blog and its address

  • Every account may have one personal blog. It is free. Its address is your Chobots name, on chobotsblog.net or chobotsblog.com, whichever you choose. You cannot choose a different name for it.
  • A group blog has an address chosen by its owner. It must follow the Rules, and we may refuse, change or retire an address. Group blogs are bought in the Chobots shop; that purchase is covered by the shop's own terms.
  • An address is not your property. If your Chobots name changes, or an account is closed, the address may change or be given up.
  • The owner of a group blog decides who writes there and what they may do, and is responsible for the blog.

What you write

What you write is yours. By posting it you give Chobots.net permission, free of charge and for as long as it is on Chobots Blogs, to store it, show it to the public, show parts of it elsewhere on the Chobots websites (for example on the front page, in the directory, in a feed, or on the official Chobots blog) with your Chobots name, and to hide, move or remove it as the Rules and these terms allow.

You promise that what you post is your own work or that you are allowed to post it, and that it follows the Rules.

Chobots, its characters, rooms, items and artwork belong to their owners. The art you can add to a post from the Chobots library may only be used on Chobots Blogs. Nothing here gives you rights in it.

With a Cosmonaut Pass, or on a group blog, you can also add pictures of your own to a post or a page, and a video from YouTube or TikTok. A picture you upload must be yours to share and must follow the Rules: above all, no photos of real people, and nothing that shows who or where you are. A child's account cannot upload pictures.

You cannot add any other link to another website, any file that is not a picture, or code. This is deliberate, to keep every page safe to open.

The Rules and moderation

You must follow the Chobots Blogs Rules. They are part of these terms.

Everything typed is checked against the game's word filter before it is saved. Some accounts' first posts are read by the team before they are shown. Every picture that is uploaded is shown to the team. Anything can be reported by a signed-in reader, and a reported post or comment is hidden until the team has looked.

The team may hide a post, a page, a comment or a whole blog, take down a picture, send a post back, reset a look, change a group blog's address, pause a writer, or take back Journalist recognition, and may act on the Chobots account itself for serious or repeated rule-breaking. We try to explain why, and the Rules say how to ask us to look again. We may keep a hidden copy of removed content as evidence.

We do not read everything before it appears and cannot promise that nothing unsuitable will ever be shown. Please report what you see.

Free blogs, the Cosmonaut Pass and group blogs

  • A free blog has a small set of looks and gadgets, and shows a line saying it was made for free with Chobots Blogs.
  • A Cosmonaut Pass, or a group blog, opens more: more looks, colours and lettering, more gadgets, extra pages, a front page of your choice, a pinned post, a notice, pictures of your own and videos in posts, and more. What is included may change.
  • These extras depend on the pass being active. If it ends, your blog, posts and comments stay; the extras are put away, not deleted, and return if the pass does. Pictures you uploaded are kept and not shown until then.
  • The Cosmonaut Pass and anything bought in the shop are sold under the Chobots Terms of Service and the shop's terms, including what they say about refunds. Nothing is sold on Chobots Blogs itself.

Journalists

The team may recognise a blog. Its owner is then shown as a Journalist, in the game and on their profile, with the blog's name and a way to it. Recognition is the team's to give and to take back, for any reason, and is not something that can be bought or demanded.

The service

Chobots Blogs is free to use and is still being built. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may be unavailable at times. If we ever have to close it, we will try to give notice first so that you can save your writing.

We look after what is stored here, but we do not promise that nothing will ever be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you would be sad to lose.

Chobots Blogs is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, the limits on our responsibility set out in the Chobots Terms of Service apply to Chobots Blogs as well.

Leaving, and ending a blog

  • You can delete a post, a picture or a comment of yours, and the owner of a blog can delete the whole blog from its Settings. Deleting a blog removes its posts, pages, pictures and the comments on it, and cannot be undone.
  • One exception: something the team has hidden, or that has been reported and not yet looked at, cannot be deleted by its writer until the team has decided, and neither can the blog it is on. This is so that a broken rule cannot simply be made to disappear.
  • If you leave a group blog, the posts you wrote there stay with the blog under your name.
  • If your Chobots account is banned, your blog is taken off the air. If your Chobots account is deleted, what you had here is erased with it once Chobots has carried the deletion out, and cannot be brought back. The Privacy Policy says exactly what goes and the little that is kept.
  • A group blog whose owner's account is deleted while it still has other writers is taken off the air, and the Chobots team decides what happens to it. It does not pass to another writer by itself.
  • We may take down a blog, or stop an account using Chobots Blogs, if these terms or the Rules are broken.

Changes, and how to reach us

We may change these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and a big change will be announced on the front page. If you keep using Chobots Blogs after a change, you accept the new terms.
