Quick answers to the questions we hear most.

Questions

Do I need a blog to use Chobots Blogs?

No. You can read everything without one. Sign in to follow blogs and leave comments.

I am new. Where do I start?

Open My blog and start your blog, then press Show me around. The tour explains every part of your desk, one page at a time, and you can take it again whenever you like.

Where is my blog's desk?

Press My blog at the top of the main site. The desk is where you write posts and change how your blog looks. Only you (and, on a group blog, its writers) can open it.

Should I pick .net or .com?

Whichever you like the look of. They work the same, the other one always leads to your blog too, and you can swap in Settings.

Why is my blog address my Chobots name?

So readers always know whose blog it is. Only a group blog gets a name you choose.

What is the difference between a post and a page?

A post is news: it has a date and moves down the list as you write more. A page stays put and is found from the menu at the top of your blog, like Rules or Members. Every blog has an About page; more pages come with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog.

Can my blog open on a page instead of my posts?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. On your desk, open Pages and choose your front door. Your posts move to Posts in the menu.

Can a page have posts of its own?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. When you write a post, choose the page under "Where it goes". The post then shows on that page and not in your Posts list. Readers still find it by its labels, in your archive and by searching.

How do I keep one post at the top?

On your desk, press Pin to the top beside the post. It stays above newer posts until you unpin it. This comes with a Cosmonaut Pass or a group blog.

Where does the picture of my Chobot come from?

From Chobots itself: it is your Chobot as it is dressed in the game, and it leads to your profile at profile.chobots.net. If your profile is not public, your blog shows the first letter of your name instead and no link.

Can I put my player card on my blog?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. On your desk, open Gadgets and add Player card. It can show your card or a friend's, as a picture or moving as it does in the game.

How do I add pictures?

In the post editor, press Room, Mood, Sticker or Picture and pick from the game's art. With a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog you can also press Photo to add a picture of your own (up to 2 MB each); they are all kept on the Pictures page of your desk. Read the rules first: never a photo of a real person.

Can I show several pictures together?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. In the post editor, press Photo and choose two or more pictures: they go in as a gallery, a row of pictures that readers slide through. In plain text, a gallery is picture lines one under the other, with no empty line between them.

Can I add a video?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. In the post editor, press Video and paste the link to a YouTube or TikTok video. A YouTube video plays on your blog. A TikTok video becomes a button that leads to it.

Can I put a table in a post?

Yes, on every blog. In the post editor, press Table and type in the cells. Press Enter in a cell for a new row. In plain text, each row is a line like | Quest | Bugs |, and a line of dashes like |---|---| under the first row makes it the heading. A table works on pages and on your About page too.

Why won't my post publish?

Everything written here goes through the same word filter as the game's chat. When it stops a post, a page or your About page, the message at the top says why and in which part, and what you wrote stays in the box. Change that part and press Publish again. These are the things that can stop it:

  • A long number. Numbers with only spaces, commas, dots, dashes or slashes between them are read as one number, and so are numbers on lines next to each other. A long one looks like a phone number. Put a word between them: "40/50 and 25,000" is fine, "40/50 25,000" is not. The message says which number it means.
  • An address of another website. Addresses on chobots.net and of Chobots blogs (like your-name.chobotsblog.net) are fine. Take any other out.
  • An email address, or an @name or a contact for another app, like "add me on snap". These are never allowed, to keep everyone safe: take them out.
  • A word the game does not allow. The message does not say which word, so read the part it names again and change the wording.
  • A post that is too long. A post can be up to 20,000 characters and its title up to 120, and a page up to 12,000. Split a long post into two.
  • An account that may not write just now. If the Chobots team has paused your writing, your account is not activated yet, or chat is off for it in the game (switched off by a parent or a moderator), nothing can be published until that changes, whatever the words. The message says which.
Can I add a link?

Yes, to Chobots itself. In a post, a page or your About, write the address of a Chobots site, like blog.chobots.net, or of a blog here (it ends in chobotsblog.net or chobotsblog.com), and it becomes a link that readers can press. Links to other websites do not work here, apart from a video added with the Video button. That keeps everyone on pages the Chobots team looks after. In a comment, an address stays plain words.

Some looks say Cosmonaut. What does that mean?

They open with a Cosmonaut Pass. If a pass runs out, your blog and posts stay, your look goes back to a free one, and your choices are kept for when the pass returns.

My post or comment disappeared.

It may have been reported, which hides it until the team has looked. If the team hid it, your page "From the Chobots team" tells you why and what you can do. The way to it is at the foot of every page, and at the top while there is something new on it.

How do I delete a comment on my blog?

Open the post and press Remove under the comment, or use Comments on your blog's desk. Removing a comment removes the replies under it too.

Can my blog have a guestbook?

Yes, with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. On your desk, open Pages, add a page, and tick "Let readers leave a message on this page". Readers can then write under it, and reply to each other.

How do I become a Journalist?

Write often, write kindly, and help other players. The team recognises blogs it likes.

Can I delete my blog?

Yes. On your blog's desk, open Settings and type the blog's address to delete it. This cannot be undone.
