Chobots Blogs Rules
These are the rules for everything written or shown on Chobots Blogs: blogs, posts, pages, comments, guestbook messages, gadgets, the names and titles on them, and any picture or video added to them. They apply to everyone, every time.
The short version
- Keep yourself safe: no real names, schools, addresses, phone numbers, other apps or passwords, and no photos of real people. Yours or anyone else's.
- Be kind: write about the game, never against a person.
- Keep it clean: nothing rude, scary, violent or grown-up.
- Be honest: do not pretend to be someone else, and do not trick anyone.
- Write your own words, and do not spam or advertise.
- See something wrong? Press Report. Do not fight it out yourself.
About these rules
Chobots Blogs is part of Chobots. Everything in the Chobots game rules and the Chobots Terms of Service applies here too. These rules add what is special about blogs, where your words stay up for everyone to read instead of scrolling away like chat.
In these rules, "words" means anything you type that other people can see: a blog's title and the line under it, a group blog's address, posts, pages, the About page, comments, guestbook messages, replies, labels, gadget text, the notice across the top and the line at the foot. A picture you upload and a video you add count as your words too. "The team" means the Chobots moderators and staff. "Your blog" means any blog you own or write for.
A rule is broken by what the words do, not by the exact letters. Getting a word past the filter by spelling it oddly, using look-alike letters or splitting it up still breaks the rule, and counts against you more, not less.
Keep yourself and others safe
Chobots Blogs can be read by anyone on the internet. Nothing here should let a stranger find out who you are, where you are, or how to reach you outside Chobots.
Never post personal information about yourself.
That means: your real full name or surname, your home address or street, your town if it is small, the name of your school or club, your phone number, your email address, your exact birthday, a photo or description that could identify you, or anything about where you will be and when.
- "I play after school most days."
- "I live somewhere with lots of snow."
- "My Chobot is called StarGazer."
- "I go to Maple Road Primary."
- "My real name is Sam Carter."
- "I will be at the pool on Saturday at 3."
Never post personal information about anyone else, and never ask anyone for theirs.
This includes friends, family, classmates and other players. It also includes asking "where do you live?", "how old are you?" or "what school are you at?", even as a joke or a poll.
Do not move the conversation somewhere else.
Do not post or ask for usernames, friend codes, server invites or links for any other app, game, chat or website, and do not suggest meeting in real life. Chobots is where Chobots friendships stay. A video added with the Video button is there to be watched, not to send readers somewhere: do not ask them to follow, subscribe to or message anyone there.
- "Add me on [any other app], same name."
- "DM me your number."
- "Join my server, code below."
Never share a password, and never ask for one.
Not for Chobots and not for anything else, not for a prize, a trade or "to check something". Nobody from the Chobots team will ever ask for your password. If someone says they are staff and asks, report it.
No photos or videos of real people, or of where you live or go.
With a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog you can add pictures of your own and a video. Never add one that shows you, your family, your friends or anyone else, even from behind or far away. Nothing that shows your home, your street, your school, a name badge, a letter, a screen with a real name on it, or anything else that could tell a stranger who or where you are. In a video, voices count as well: no real names said aloud.
- A screenshot of your Chobot at a party.
- A drawing you made of a Chobot.
- A video of your Chobot playing a game.
- A selfie.
- A photo of your bedroom, your school or your street.
- A video with you or your friends in it.
Be kind
You can disagree with anyone about anything in the game. You cannot attack the person.
No bullying or harassment.
Do not insult, mock, threaten or embarrass another player. Do not write posts or lists about players you dislike, do not encourage readers to gang up on someone, and do not keep going after someone has asked you to stop or blocked you. Leaving someone out on purpose to hurt them counts too.
- "I think the new fountain is ugly, and here is why."
- "I disagree with Birdy's guide. My way is faster."
- "Birdy is the worst player in Chobots."
- "Top 5 most annoying Chobots."
- "Everyone unfollow her."
No hate.
Nothing that attacks or makes fun of people for their race, country, language, religion, disability, body, gender, family or who they are. Jokes count.
No threats, and no wishing harm on anyone, in the game or out of it.
Do not name and shame.
If a player has broken a rule, report it. Do not write a post accusing them, post screenshots of chats, or ask your readers to deal with them. Even when you are right, that is the team's job, and public accusations are often wrong.
Keep it clean
Players of every age read these blogs, and many are young children.
No swearing or rude words, in any language, including shortened, starred-out or oddly spelt versions.
Nothing sexual, violent, gory or frightening.
That includes stories, jokes, descriptions, roleplay, pictures and videos. Pretend battles in the spirit of the game are fine; describing or showing people being hurt is not.
Nothing about alcohol, smoking, drugs, weapons or gambling.
No dating and no romance roleplay.
Do not look for or offer a boyfriend or girlfriend, do not run "who likes who" posts, and do not write romantic stories about players.
Nothing that could upset or endanger someone.
Do not write about hurting yourself, do not post "challenges" or dares, and do not spread scary rumours. If you are worried about yourself or a friend, please tell a grown-up you trust. If you see something like this here, report it so the team can help.
Be honest
Do not pretend to be someone you are not.
Not another player, not a Journalist, and never the Chobots team. A blog's title, address, look or words must not make it seem official.
- "The Daily Chobot: news by players, for players."
- "Unofficial guide to the Academy."
- "Official Chobots News."
- "Chobots Staff Blog."
- "Message from the moderators."
No scams, and no trades outside the game.
Do not offer or ask for Bugs, items, Cosmonaut Passes or accounts in exchange for passwords, real money, follows, or anything outside Chobots. Do not buy, sell or give away accounts.
No cheating, hacking or exploits.
Tips, guides, secrets and things you discovered by playing are welcome. Instructions for breaking the game, getting Bugs or items unfairly, getting into other accounts, or using outside programs are not. Found a bug? Tell the team instead of posting it.
- "Three quick ways to earn Bugs."
- "A hidden door behind the Music Stage."
- "A glitch that gives unlimited Bugs."
- "How to get into someone's account."
Do not present a guess or a rumour as fact.
If you are guessing what is coming to the game, say it is a guess. Do not invent quotes from the team, fake announcements, or events that are not happening.
Keep your promises.
If you run a contest or a giveaway, it must be free to enter, must not ask for passwords or personal information, and you must give the prize you promised, in the game.
Your own work
Write your own words.
Do not copy another player's post, guide or story. You may quote a sentence or two if you say whose it is, and you may write about the same subject in your own way.
Do not copy from books, songs, shows or other websites.
A line or a title to say what you are talking about is fine. Whole lyrics, chapters or articles are not yours to post.
Use the art from the Chobots library, or pictures that are yours.
Rooms, stickers, moods and postcards are added from the editor, and everyone can use them. With a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog you can also upload pictures: your own screenshots of Chobots, your own drawings, your own photos of things (never of people: see rule 2.5). Do not upload pictures taken from other websites, games, shows or artists. Do not use a picture to get round another rule, such as rude words written in a picture or drawn with symbols.
A video must be fit for every reader.
With a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog you can add a video from YouTube or TikTok. Add one only if you have watched all of it, and all of it follows these rules. It should be about Chobots, or about what your post is about. Not a video that advertises something, and not one made to shock.
No spam, no advertising
Do not flood.
Do not post the same thing again and again, fill posts with nonsense or repeated letters, or leave the same comment on many blogs.
Do not use other people's blogs to advertise yours.
A comment should be about the post it is under. "Nice post! I wrote about this too" once is friendly. "FOLLOW MY BLOG" on every post is spam.
No advertising.
Do not promote other games, websites, channels, servers, shops or anything for sale. Links to other websites do not work here on purpose; writing an address out in words to get around that breaks this rule.
Do not beg, and do not pay for followers.
Do not ask readers for Bugs, items or passes, and do not offer rewards for following, reacting or commenting.
Do not trick the numbers. No extra accounts to follow, react to or vote on your own blog.
Names, titles and looks
Your own blog's address is your Chobots name. A group blog's address is chosen by its owner and must follow every rule here.
A group blog may not take a name that belongs to a player, sounds official, or was chosen to mock someone. The team may change or retire an address that breaks the rules.
Titles, the line under the title, the notice, the foot, gadget text and labels are words like any other, and the same rules apply to them.
Do not use the look of your blog to mislead, for example to make it resemble an official Chobots page.
Group blogs
The owner is responsible for the blog.
That means who is invited, what the writers are allowed to do, and what is published under the blog's name. If the team has to act on a group blog, it may act on the whole blog.
Every writer is responsible for their own words, whoever checked or published them.
Editors must not approve or publish something they know breaks the rules.
Do not use invitations, roles or removal to bully. A group blog is a club, not a weapon.
Comments, replies and guestbooks
Every rule here applies to comments, replies and guestbook messages, wherever you leave them.
A blog's owner and editors may remove any comment on their blog, and do not have to say why.
It is their page. If your comment is removed, do not post it again and do not argue about it on other blogs.
Removing a comment does not undo a report. The team still sees what was reported.
Reporting
If something breaks these rules, press Report.
Report is on every blog, under every post and beside every comment. A reported post or comment is hidden straight away until the team has looked at it. You do not need to say anything to the person, and they are not told who reported them.
Only report what really breaks the rules.
Reporting something because you dislike it, to win an argument, or to take down a rival is itself breaking the rules. Each account can only send a limited number of reports a day.
If the team has looked and left something up, do not report it again unless it has changed.
What the team can do
The team decides what breaks the rules. They look at what was written, where, how serious it is, and whether it has happened before.
- Hide a post, a page, a comment or a whole blog. Its writer is told why. Nothing is deleted, so a mistake can be put right.
- Send a post back to its writer with a note instead of letting it out.
- Put a blog's look back to the plain one, or change a group blog's address.
- Pause a writer: they can still read and sign in, but nothing they write is accepted until the pause ends.
- Take back Journalist recognition.
- For serious or repeated rule-breaking, act on the Chobots account itself under the game's rules. A mute or a ban in the game applies here too: a banned player's blog is taken down, and a muted player cannot write.
There is no fixed number of chances. A first small mistake usually means a post is hidden and explained. Something serious, such as sharing someone's personal information, threats, or anything that puts a child at risk, can mean a pause or account action the first time.
If something suggests a person may be in danger, the team may pass on what is needed to the people who can help, as described in the Privacy Policy.
First posts and children's blogs
When an account is new, its first post is read by the team before anyone else can see it. This is to keep out spam and troublemakers, and the team tries to do it quickly. Accounts that have been part of Chobots for a while do not have to wait.
If your account is a child's account, a parent or guardian has to say yes before your blog can be seen by other people. You can make your blog and write your first post first; Chobots then emails your grown-up to ask. They can change their mind at any time.
If you think we got it wrong
The team is made of people, and people make mistakes. If something of yours was hidden and you believe it did not break a rule, contact Chobots support and say which post or comment it was and why you think so. It will be looked at again.
Please do not argue about a decision in posts or comments, or make a new account to get around a pause. Both make things worse.
Changes to these rules
The rules may change as Chobots Blogs grows. The date at the top of this page says when they last changed. If a change is a big one, we will say so on the front page. Using Chobots Blogs after a change means you accept the new rules.
