Chobots Blogs Privacy Policy
What Chobots Blogs knows about you, what it does with it, and what it never collects. It adds to the Chobots Privacy Policy, which covers your account and the game.
The short version
- No adverts, no tracking and no analytics. The only thing from another company that can be on a page is a YouTube video, where a writer has added one.
- We never see your email address or your password. You sign in at Chobots.
- We keep what you write, who you follow, and your reactions, votes and reports.
- Everything you publish is public. Do not put personal information in it.
- You can delete your posts, your pictures, your comments and your blog yourself.
Who we are
Chobots Blogs (chobotsblog.net and chobotsblog.com) is run by Chobots.net, which also runs the Chobots game. This policy covers only Chobots Blogs. Your Chobots account, the game, payments and everything else are covered by the Chobots Privacy Policy at chobots.net/privacy.html, and nothing here takes away from it.
What Chobots tells us about your account
Chobots Blogs has no accounts of its own. When you sign in, Chobots confirms who you are, and from then on we ask Chobots for these facts, and only these:
- Your account number and your Chobots name.
- Your level and the year you joined.
- Whether you have a Cosmonaut Pass, and how many group blogs you have bought.
- Whether your account may chat, is muted, banned or closed, and whether Chobots has erased it.
- Whether your profile is public. If it is not, we never show your Chobot's picture or a link to your profile.
- Whether your account is a child's account, and whether a guardian has said yes to a blog.
- How old the account is, whether real money has ever been spent on it, and whether its email address has been proven. We use these only to decide whether a first post needs to be read by the team before it appears.
- Whether you are in the game right now, if a blog has asked to show that and you have not switched it off in your profile.
- Whether you are a member of the Chobots team or a Journalist.
We do not receive, and cannot see, your email address, your password, your date of birth, your real name, your payment details or your chat.
What you give us by using Chobots Blogs
- What you write: blogs, posts, drafts, pages, comments, guestbook messages, replies, gadget text and titles, with the time and your Chobots name.
- Pictures you upload, if you have a Cosmonaut Pass or write for a group blog: the picture, its size, when it was added and your Chobots name. Before a picture is kept, everything a camera or a phone hides inside the file is taken out: where and when it was taken, what took it, and any notes. Only the picture itself is kept.
- How your blog looks: the choices you make in the look studio and your gadgets.
- Which blogs you follow, which posts you reacted to, and how you voted in a poll. A blog shows how many followers and reactions it has, not who they are.
- Reports you send: what you reported and when. The team sees who sent a report. The person reported does not.
- Notes you send the team with "Tell the team": what you wrote, your Chobots name, the page you were on, and a few words about what you were using (for example "Chrome on an Android phone") with the size your screen showed the page at. This is so the team can see what you saw. Only the team sees a note, and it is erased with your account.
- If you write for a group blog: your role there.
- Where you are in the tour of your desk, so it can carry on where you left off.
Records the team keeps
- A log of what the team did: which post, comment, page, picture or blog was hidden or put back, by whom, when and why. A line keeps the account numbers of who did it and of whose thing it was, beside the names, so that it still finds the right account after a name is changed. After a blog is deleted by its owner, lines about it still keep the owner's account number, until that account is erased.
- A record of what the team hid of yours: that a post, a comment, a page, a picture or a blog of yours was hidden, under which rule and why, by whom and when, and whether it was put back. It holds no title and none of the words, and it is kept after the thing is put back or deleted. It also keeps when you last read what the team told you about it.
- Every pause on a writer's writing: when it was given, for how long and why, by whom, and how and why it ended.
- Reports and what was decided about them.
- What a reported or hidden thing said, when it is changed or deleted before the team has decided: if you rewrite a post or a blog's own words while it is reported or hidden, or a reported comment goes because its post, page or blog was deleted, a copy of what it said is kept for the team. The copy is erased once the team has decided.
These are kept so that decisions are consistent and can be checked, and so that someone who was stopped for breaking the Rules cannot simply start again.
Cookies and technical information
Chobots Blogs sets five cookies, all its own, and none of them follows you anywhere else:
- cb_session: keeps you signed in on Chobots Blogs, for up to 7 days. It says which account signed in and nothing else, and is checked against Chobots on every visit, so changing your password signs you out here too.
- cb_signin: lives for up to 10 minutes while you are being signed in, so the answer comes back to the browser that asked.
- cb_hop: lives for up to 5 minutes while you are being signed in on the second of our two addresses (chobotsblog.net and chobotsblog.com), so that only the browser that signed in is signed in there. It holds a random number and nothing about you.
- cb_theme: remembers whether you chose the light or the space look, for a year. It is set only if you press the switch.
- cb_lang: remembers the language you chose to read this site in, for a year. It is set only if you choose one. This one and cb_theme are the only ones set if you never sign in.
Like any website, our servers see the internet address (IP address) your browser connects from and what it asked for. We use the address to stop one computer flooding the site, and it may be kept in server logs for security. Chobots Blogs is reached through Cloudflare, which handles that connection for us.
A blog's "hits" counter counts visits, not visitors: it does not record who came.
While you write a post or a page, your browser keeps a copy of what you have typed on your own device (in the browser's own storage, not in a cookie), so that your words are not lost if the page closes before you save. It is not sent anywhere, and it is removed once what you wrote has been saved.
A picture a writer uploaded is fetched from Chobots Blogs itself.
When a page shows a Chobot's picture or player card, your browser fetches it from Chobots' own servers (my.chobots.net and user.chobots.net), the same as on the Chobots website. A moving player card is shown in a frame served by user.chobots.net.
With a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog, a writer can put a YouTube video in a post or a page. It is shown in a frame served by YouTube from its privacy-enhanced address (youtube-nocookie.com). When that part of the page is shown, your browser connects to YouTube, which sees your internet address as any website does; YouTube says it stores nothing in your browser from that address until you press play. YouTube's own privacy policy covers what it does. A TikTok video is only a link: nothing is fetched from TikTok unless you press it.
There are no adverts, no advertising or analytics trackers and no social media buttons on Chobots Blogs. The pages of a blog run no script of ours at all, and the only thing from another company that can appear on one is that YouTube frame. We do not sell personal information.
Who can see what
- Published blogs, posts, pages, the pictures in them, comments and guestbook messages are public: anyone on the internet can read them, with the Chobots name of whoever wrote them. Search engines may find them.
- An uploaded picture has an address of its own, which cannot be guessed and is written only in the post or page it was put in. Anyone who has that address can open the picture, even while the post is still a draft, until the picture is deleted or the team takes it down.
- Drafts are seen only by their writer and, on a group blog, by its owner and editors.
- A blog that is not published, is waiting for a guardian, or has been hidden is seen only by its writers and the team.
- The team can see everything on Chobots Blogs, whatever its state, in order to moderate it.
- If something suggests a person may be in danger, or we are required to by law, we may pass on what is needed to the people who can help. This is described in the Chobots Privacy Policy.
Children and guardians
Chobots Blogs is made for children, and built so that using it needs no personal information at all: no real names, no messages in private, and no links out other than to a video on YouTube or TikTok that a writer with a Cosmonaut Pass or a group blog has added.
A child's account cannot upload pictures at all, and neither can a free blog: their pictures come only from the library of the game's own art. Other accounts can upload pictures with a Cosmonaut Pass or on a group blog. The Rules forbid photos of real people and anything that shows who or where someone is, the hidden information in a picture file is removed before it is kept, and the team is shown every new picture and can take one down.
A child's account can create a blog and write drafts, but nobody else can see any of it until a parent or guardian linked to the account in the Chobots Parents Centre has said yes. Chobots sends them an email with the blog's name and the child's first post, and a yes and a no. Chobots Blogs never sees the guardian's email address. A guardian can withdraw permission at any time, and the blog becomes private again at once.
A child's Chobot picture and profile link appear on blogs only if their guardian has made their profile public at Chobots.
Parents and guardians: you can see your child's public blog like anyone else, and you can ask us about what they have written or have it removed by writing to us.
How long we keep things, and deleting them
- What you write is kept until you delete it or delete the blog. A picture you uploaded is kept until it is deleted on the blog's Pictures page, or the blog is deleted: taking a picture out of a post does not delete it.
- You can delete any post, picture or comment of yours yourself. The owner of a blog can delete the whole blog from its Settings: that removes its posts, pages, pictures, the comments on it, its followers and its poll votes, at once and for good.
- One exception: something the team has hidden, or that has been reported and not yet looked at, cannot be deleted by its writer until the team has decided, and neither can the blog it is on. It is kept so that the team can see what was there.
- Posts you wrote for a group blog stay with that blog if you leave it. Ask the blog's owner, or us, to remove them.
- The team's records (the log, the record of what the team hid, every pause, and the fact that a report was made) are kept after the content is gone, without the content itself. The log keeps its newest 20,000 lines: an older line goes as a new one is written.
- What the team hid counts against a writer for 90 days unless it is put back or taken off the record, and a pause for a year unless it was given by mistake. The records themselves are kept until the account is erased.
- If your Chobots account is banned, your blog is taken off the air and kept. The same happens the moment a deletion of your Chobots account is asked for: for as long as Chobots lets that be called off, everything here is kept, so that calling it off brings it all back.
- Once Chobots has erased the account, Chobots Blogs erases what belonged to it, without being asked. Chobots tells us when it happens, and we also notice by ourselves whenever something of yours is looked up. What goes: your blog, with its posts, its pages, its pictures and everything readers left on it; the posts you wrote and the pictures you uploaded for group blogs; your comments and replies on every blog, with the replies under them; your reactions, follows and poll votes; your place on any group blog and invitations to you; every pause the team had put on your writing; and the record of what the team hid of yours.
- A few things are kept, with your name and account number taken off them. A group blog you own that still has other writers is not erased with you and is not handed to anyone: it is taken off the air, and the Chobots team decides what happens to it. A page you made for a group blog that stays is kept as that blog's page. A report you made that the team has not answered yet, or answered by leaving the thing up, is kept as a report from nobody. The team's log keeps that something was done and when, without your name, your blog's name or your words, and the reason the team typed goes from a line that was about you. A line written before 12 October 2026, or one about somebody else's writing, may still hold a reason typed by hand.
- What other people wrote stays theirs, even where it mentions you. If something written about you should go, write to us.
Your choices
- Read without signing in: nothing about you is stored beyond the technical information above.
- Unfollow a blog or take back a reaction at any time. Delete a comment, a post, a picture or your blog yourself, unless the team is looking at it (see above).
- Ask what we hold about your account, ask us to correct it, or ask us to erase it: [email protected]. A parent or guardian can ask for a child.
- Anything about your Chobots account itself (your email address, your password, closing the account) is done at Chobots: my.chobots.net, or parents.chobots.net for a child.
